Interviews From The 3rd Runway Event

John Stewart, Chairman of HACAN, talking after giving an impassioned speech at the CHATR event at St Michaels. He told The Chiswick Calendar ‘A voice for those under Heathrow flightpaths’ said the impact in Chiswick would be ‘devastating’, with an additional quarter of a million planes a year expected and the probable flight path running between the M4 and the A4, north of the existing flight path.

He outlined four key issues of concern should Heathrow be allowed to build a third runway: noise pollution, air pollution, the destruction of 783 houses in the path of the proposed runway and the additional strain on local road and rail services.

Heathrow Third Runway - Public Meeting

The Bedford Park Residents' Association is holding a public meeting on the evening of Wednesday 25 November at St Michael & All Angels Church, Bedford Park to discuss the Heathrow Third Runway proposals.   This reflects the need to generate awareness among residents that a Government decision is imminent, and that we need to make our voices heard.

LogoCroppedSmallThe meeting is being help in partnership with CHiswick Against the Third Runway (CHATR) and John Stewart, Chairman HACAN, (Heathrow Association for the Control of Aircraft Noise), has already confirmed his attendance and we are inviting other key lobbyists, local MPs and Councillors to be there.  More details of the speakers and format will be confirmed by the BPRA shortly, which we’ll update you with however we encourage our members to join and support CHATR as well as following the issues through our website and social media posts.

Called CHiswick Against the Third Runway or CHATR, the new group is intended to make sure that Chiswick's voice is heard in the debate.  Ruth Cadbury has stated her opposition to the scheme.

CHATR are urging as many Chiswick residents as possible to attend a protest rally being held in Parliament Square this Saturday 10th October between 10.30 and 12.30AM which will be addressed by Mayoral candidate and local MP Zac Goldsmith.  There is a meetup at Turnham Green Station at 9.30AM that morning to ensure that Chiswick travels up as a co-ordinated group.

CHATR's latest press release about the event is enclosed below.
